Croatia
The cost of chartering a yacht in Croatia will start at around $25,000 a week, plus an additional 30% advanced provisioning allowance (APA), 14% VAT, and a discretionary tip. The APA will cover the food, drinks, fuel, and berthing during your travels, and the tip remains at the discretion of the client but is advised anywhere between 10% to 20% of the charter fee to thank the crew for their efforts.
The Western Mediterranean high season spreads over 8 weeks from July to August, but the area often remains busy until late September while it starts in May.
Most yacht charters in Croatia will start in one of the region’s main marinas, such as Split. A great cruise is to go island hopping until you’ve reached Hvar.
Our charter broker Eva Malek has cruised around Croatia extensively and recommends:
- Hvar - The old town has plenty of charm, as do the glitzy nightclubs and bars that dot the marina.
- Dubrovnik - A must-see UNESCO World Heritage site with a stunning harbour and pretty plaza, where many great restaurants and shops can be found.
- Tivat - A traditional town with a modern marina, many designer boutiques and world-class restaurants and bars.
